Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on Belle Isle, Saturday, October 8th.

Check in is at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:30 a.m. It is a 5 mile walk and should end around noon. Please check out the site, you don't have to donate in order to walk! With everyone’s help this is sure to be a success!! Tell your friends and family all about it!

College Student Internship Opportunities for Fall 2005

Michigan Campus Compact (MCC) promotes the education and
commitment of Michigan college students to be engaged
citizens, through creating and expanding academic, co-
curricular and campus-wide opportunities for community
service, service-learning and civic engagement. MCC is
currently comprised of 33 member higher education
institutions including public, private, and community
colleges across the state of Michigan.

MCC Venture Grant History Project*
Michigan Campus Compact seeks a college student interested in
history, education, assessment or sociology to compile a
complete history of our long-standing Venture Grant Program.
An intern will assist in data! entry and reporting on grant
outcomes utilizing an existing database. The project results
will be presented in multiple formats to the MCC network and
the general public. Though unpaid, the internship will offer
multiple opportunities for career networking and is ideal for

MCC Online Communication Project*
Michigan Campus Compact seeks a college student interested in
journalism, communication or marketing to create and edit
member spotlights publications (featuring unique and best
practices) to enhance online communication of our network

opportunities for career networking and is ideal for

and compile a timeline of civic engagement in Michigan higher

Volunteer Centers of Michigan (VCM) is a statewide network of
32 local Volunteer Centers serving 46 Michigan counties.
Volunteer Centers mobilize people and resources to deliver
creative solutions to community problems. VCM’s mission is to
strengthen existing Volunteer Centers, to provide leadership
in developing new centers, and to promote and strengthen
volunteerism statewide.

VCM Marketing/Public Relations*
The Volunteer Centers of Michigan seeks a creative marketing
intern who can pump up our Michigan Student Service Award
website, create posters, brochures, and write outstanding
stories about our students. This internship is unpaid but is
ideal for making contacts and geting some hands on
experience. Located in South Lansing this internship is 10
hours per week for one semester. For more information please

VCM Graphic/Web Design*
The Volunteer Centers of Michigan seeks a creative student to
assist in redesigning our website. Must have knowledge of
Dreamweaver MX 2004, Macromedia Flash MX 2004, Macromedia
Fireworks 2004, Word, and Publisher. This internship is for
one semester and is unpaid, but the hours are flexible.

*A college student willing to complete 300 hours of service,
through any of the above nonprofit internships, could be
eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship through the MCC
Michigan Service Scholars Program. To complete 300 hours
during a regular academic year, a student intern would need
